At the young age of 6, Ravi was initiated into the art of playing flute by his father,Prof. K. Raghavaendra Rao.He started giving his solo performances on stage when he was 12. Since then, Ravi has emerged as one of the leading and most sought after flautists in India. His skills range from playing Carnatic classical to world fusion music. Although he has received his basic flute training in the rich South Indian Carnatic style, he's at ease performing in the North Indian and Western Music styles, blending them all to give a unique sound to his concerts.

Ravi has also mastered the art of playing "Khanjira"- a South Indian percussion instrument resembling the tambourine. He brings out intricate rhythmic patterns on his Kanjira.His profound knowledge of complex rhythmic formations enables him to play the same on the bamboo.

Ravi's repertoire includes playing rare South Indian ragas combining fast paced fingering techniques with soothing melodic phrases,which touch one's heart and soul. Artistes from around the world frequently seek Ravi's talents. He frequently tours Europe, U.S.A. and other parts of the world to perform solo, jugalbandi and fusion concerts and also to accompany many world-renowned dancers at prestigious venues.
He regulary performs with the "Amit Heri Group".

Ravi' profound experience with music has also made him a unique composer. His compositions are known for their melodic nuances as well as complex rhythmic patterns. His style has been well appreciated by music lovers and critics alike.Ravi has been honoured with the title "Kala Arathi Rathna" for his excellence in flute playing by the Arathi School of Dance in Phoenix, U.S.A.

Ravi has brought out six solo albums. These have been highly acclaimed
for the mellifluous rendition of the flute and have been immensely successful with the audiences.
Ravi holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
